Bariatric nutritionist

Nutritional counselling is one of the most important aspects of recovery after bariatric surgery. A bariatric nutritionist or dietician provides patients with nutritional and moral support through the whole process. Following weight loss surgery, the bariatric nutritionists make sure that the patient continues to eat healthy to help promote a healthy lifestyle. To assure proper healing and to receive adequate nutrition after surgery, it is important to follow special dietary guidelines.

During the first week after surgery, you will remain on liquid diet. You will remain on pureed diet during the second to fourth week after surgery. You will slowly add soft foods and solid foods in six weeks after surgery. For successful weight loss, adequate protein intake, vitamin intake, physical activity, and adherence to postoperative healthy dietary guidelines are needed. For a successful outcome you will need to adopt new eating habits such as eating small meals, eating slowly, avoiding foods high in fat and sugar, and focus on high-protein foods. Because bariatric surgery results in partial absorption of nutrients from food, your doctor may suggest you to take vitamin and protein supplements. If you eat too much or eat food that you should not, you could have nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. As smoking can cause ulcers, it should be discontinued after bariatric surgery.

Whatever surgical option you choose for your weight loss surgery, our experienced dietician will work with you to create a personalized healthy eating plan to provide the nutrients your body requires and to avoid unnecessary calories.

Exercise Program

Exercise is a very important part of a successful bariatric surgery to achieve the body you want. A regular exercise program helps in reaching and maintaining an optimal weight loss. Exercise training helps preserve lean body mass, increase your energy, tighten loose skin caused by rapid weight loss, and make you feel better. Soon after surgery, you will begin walking. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

Our personal trainers are available to offer a personal training program for each individual patient in order to achieve the best possible goals.

Psychological counselling

We provide psychological counselling to prepare patients for the diet and exercise program essential for a successful weight loss management. Psychological counselling may be needed during your weight loss journey to enhance your weight loss success.

Our psychologist offer counselling services to individuals in our Bariatric Program and provide motivation required for effective results.
