Bariatric Care Program

Our Bariatric Care Program provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative education and ongoing aftercare to improve the quality of care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery. A structured Bariatric Care Program would include:

Bariatric Nutritionist

Nutritional counselling is one of the most important aspects of recovery after bariatric surgery. A bariatric nutritionist or dietician provides patients with nutritional and moral support. Following weight loss surgery, the bariatric nutritionists ensure that the patient continues eating healthy to help promote a healthy lifestyle. It is important to follow special dietary guidelines to ensure proper healing and receive adequate nutrition after surgery.

You will remain on a liquid diet during the first week after surgery. You will remain on a pureed diet during the second to fourth week after surgery. You will slowly add soft and solid foods six weeks after surgery. For successful weight loss, adequate protein intake, vitamin intake, physical activity, and adherence to postoperative healthy dietary guidelines are needed. For a successful outcome, you can adopt new eating habits such as eating small meals, eating slowly, avoiding foods high in fat and sugar, and focusing on high-protein foods. Because bariatric surgery results in partial absorption of nutrients from food, your doctor may suggest you take vitamin and protein supplements. If you eat too much or eat food that you should not, you could have nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. As smoking can cause ulcers, it should be discontinued after bariatric surgery.

Whatever surgical option you choose for your weight loss surgery, our experienced dietician will work with you to create a personalized healthy eating plan to provide the nutrients your body requires and to avoid unnecessary calories.

Exercise Program

Exercise is a very important part of a successful bariatric surgery to achieve your desired body. A regular exercise program helps in reaching and maintaining optimal weight loss. Exercise training helps preserve lean body mass, increase energy, tighten loose skin caused by rapid weight loss, and make you feel better. Soon after surgery, you will begin walking. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

Our personal trainers are available to offer a personal training program for each individual patient to achieve the best possible goals.

Psychological Counselling

We provide psychological counselling to prepare patients for the diet and exercise program essential for successful weight loss management. Psychological counselling may be needed to enhance your success during your weight loss journey.

Our psychologists offer counselling services to individuals in our Bariatric Care Program and motivate effective results.
